# Key terms

> Key terms and definitions for the CreatorDB app.

## Brand

Refers to a company actively participating in the influencer market or sponsoring content.

## Topics

On the CreatorDB platform, topics are content categories based on YouTube classifications. You can filter by more than 490 YouTube topics in 16 categories to narrow search results.

## Niches

CreatorDB’s AI algorithm identifies about 16,000 niches on YouTube and about 40,000 on Instagram and 40,000 on TikTok. These are more granular categories of a topic. For example, if birds are a category, then penguins would be a niche.

## Self-like

When a creator likes their own content, the number and ratio of self-likes indicate whether their content likes are organic or self-promoted.

## Kanban board

A Kanban board is a project management tool for keeping track of workflows visually. The board comprises different columns that are used to indicate different workflow stages or statuses.

## Card

A card is a column object on the Kanban board that contains information relevant to the task.

## Evergreen

An ongoing marketing campaign with no specific end date.

## Cost per Mille (CPM)

Cost per mille, or CPM, is the rate a sponsor pays a creator for every 1,000 content views. For example, if a creator’s CPM is $200 and their video gets 10,000 views, then they would earn $2,000 for their content.

```
Video views = 10,000
CPM = $200/1000 views
10,000 views * $200/1,000 views= $2,000
```

## Flat fee

A single or fixed price charged for a specific product or service, regardless of the time and resources spent to complete it. For example, a creator that quotes a flat rate of \$100 for a 30-second reel will only get paid that much even if the reel takes more than 3 days to complete.

## View guarantee

A contractual assurance provided by a creator to brands that their sponsored content will reach an agreed minimum number of video views.

## Deliverables

The expected output that a creator must provide to the sponsoring brand by the end of the marketing campaign.

## 30s integration

A 30-second sponsored ad spot within a longer piece of content. This ad is usually placed in the middle of the video when a viewer is engaged with the content.

## 60s integration

A 60-second sponsored ad spot within a longer piece of content. This ad is usually placed in the middle of the video when a viewer is engaged with the content.

## Dedicated video

A sponsored video where the entire content (e.g. YouTube video) is built around a single brand or product. The creator might spend the entire video demonstrating or reviewing the product.

## Usage rights

The permissions granted by a copyright holder, such as the creator, that defines how, where, and how long their content can be used. Components of a usage rights can include:

* **Duration:** How long the brand can use the sponsored content.
* **Channels or Mediums:** Where the content can be posted, such as organic social media posts, paid ads, websites, email newsletters, or TV.
* **Territory:** The geographic area where the content can be distributed (e.g., global, national, or online)
* **Exclusivity:** Whether a brand is granted sole ownership or rights to run the content, or if the creator can collaborate with competing brands.

## Exclusivity period

A contractual restriction that prevents a creator from promoting competing products or brands within the defined timeframe.

## API key

A key that identifies your requests to the CreatorDB API. You create and manage API keys on the API dashboard. For details, see [API dashboard](/creatordb_app/user_guide/api_dashboard.md).

## Credit

The unit you spend to make CreatorDB API calls. Different endpoints cost different amounts. For details, see [API credit usage](/api-v3/api-credit-usage.md).

## Plan credits and purchased credits

Plan credits come with paid plans. They refresh each monthly cycle, and unused plan credits don't roll over. Purchased credits are credits you buy on top of your plan, on any plan including Free. They expire 1 year from the purchase date. CreatorDB combines plan credits and purchased credits into one balance.
